A CLOSELY fought game in the FA Trophy saw visiting Congleton Town defeat Avro at the Vestacare stadium.
A Max McCarthy goal in the 56th minute proved to be the difference maker for the opposition against a capable Avro side who had previously won four in a row.
With the winning streak of their opponents broken, Congleton will now be looking forward to the next round of the competition.
Anthony Warburton was awarded as Avro’s man-ofthe-match in the tight clash after threatening the Congleton defence on several occasions.
