Alfreton Town overwhelmed Biggleswade Town to progress to the 4th Qualifying Round of the FA Cup.
In a tie postponed twice due to rain, Town made it with the wait with an emphatic 6-0 victory away from home, five of their goals arriving after half-time.
Billy Fewster opened the scoring before Jed Abbey doubled the Reds’ lead two minutes after the break.
Jake Day and Fewster both completed braces each and Liam Waldock completed the rout with a splendid final goal.
Alfreton Town manager Billy Heath was delighted with his side’s ruthless performance.
“I think the second goal was important, it just took the belief out of Biggleswade Town,” he said.
“We pride ourselves on clean sheets, it’s a major factor, I know it’s unfashionable now because not that many teams do that at any level.”
Alfreton will host fellow National League North rivals Spennymoor Town in the next round.
In the FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round replay ties, there were home triumphs for Chesham United and Lowestoft Town.
Chesham overcame Bishops Cleeve, a side from two levels below, by four goals to nil with Jack Connors, Lewis Rolfe (2) and T’Sharne on target for the Generals.
Harvey Sayer scored a first half hat-trick for Lowestoft in their 3-1 win over Haringey Borough. The Trawlermen are in the 4th Qualifying Round for the first time since 2012 and they’ll host National League South in-form side Weston-super-Mare.
Chesham United will host Yeovil Town, hoping to replicate last year’s success at this round against a higher division side when they ousted Braintree Town.
