SCOTT Harris quit Kingstonian this week amid a “toxic environment created by a segment of supporters”, according to his chairman.
Ks chief Yioryos Vasilaras spoke out after accepting Harris’ resignation after just eight league games in charge.
Harris, whose father Kim also managed Ks, arrived at the newly-relegated club back in April having led Surrey neighbours Walton & Hersham to three successive promotions.
Fronted by an influx of tried and tested former Walton players, Ks enjoyed a steady start in Isthmian South Central, picking up 16 points from their opening seven games before a heavy 7-4 defeat to Ashford Town on Tuesday night.
On his decision, Harris said: “A number of factors around the club have led me to the belief that it’s for the best that we part ways.
“I would like to state my gratitude to Yioryos and his board members for the opportunity and I want to underline that this decision is not based around money or any broken promises on his part.”
Vasilaras, however, had a much different understanding as to his departure, commenting: “Scott’s decision is solely based on the fact that he’s not enjoying football and specifically managing our football club in the current toxic environment created by a segment of our supporters.
“Where do I start, what can I say about Scott? Firstly, he’s the most amazing human being, he’s a football man through and through, from the minute he’s come through the door, he’s given his heart and soul to the job.
“I know that he took the job for a number of reasons in the summer, firstly due to our personal friendship, because it’s Ks and his Dad’s history with the club and finally and most importantly to keep his group of players together and provide them with a platform to play together.”
