BEFORE we continue with this week’s update can I clarify the Salisbury City issue at the end of February 2013.
As you all know, part of the FNL make-up is to award 25 bonus points at the end of each month to the leaders of each league which encompasses the FNL. On Thursday February 28, the Blue Square Bet South was being led by Salisbury City, so the Whites were awarded the bonus points.
At 6am on Friday March 1 a statement was released from the Football Conference stating that Salisbury had been deducted one point. That meant that Welling United took over top spot, but as far as FNL rules state City were still top at close of play at the end of February 2013.
As we charge towards the end of the 2012/13 FNL season, I thought it high time we took a look at who is in the running to grab our £2,000 first prize.
Leading the main FNL table is Bubbly Clarets with 10,742 points – 167pts ahead of second-placed FC Dumbledore and 169 ahead of The Firm in third. As it stands, the top 10 is covered by 314 points, the top 50 stretches out to 634pts and the top 100 is covered by 826pts.
All of the fop five have made subs; the closest to the top without making subs is Hammys Hotshots in 29th position.
Jennie’s Jokers are bottom and in the running for the £100 prize with 5,076pts – 15pts adrift from their closest rival BoneyBottom.
Today’s update covers Sunday March 10 to Saturday March 16. The top three teams in the March 2013 Manager of the Month are: 1 The Mather Boys 1,042pts (97th); 2 Blossom United 1,041pts (40th), 3 Top Cats 1,028pts (313th).
