NORTHWICH VICTORIA manager Lee Ashcroft has been given a ten-match touchline ban and fined £1,200 after being found guilty of abusing Gresley FC’s female coach Hannah Dingley.
As first revealed by The Non-League Paper in January, the former England Under-21 winger was charged with an alleged breach of FA Rule E3 in that he used abusive and/or insulting words towards Dingley during the sides’ Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One South fixture on 12 January 2013.
It was further alleged Ashcroft’s abusive and/or insulting words were in relation to the ex-Leicester and Lincoln City ladies’ coach’s gender.
Ashcroft denied the charge and the matter was heard at a non-personal hearing where an Independent Regulatory Commission found the charge proven. Ashcroft has notified the FA of his intention to appeal the decision.
