Macclesfield Town Keeper Stays Put

GOALKEEPER Rhys Taylor has signed a deal that will see him remain at next season.

The 23-year-old initially joined the Silkmen in January this year and went on to become their first-choice man between the sticks in the second half of the 2012/13 season.

And Taylor, a former Chelsea youth team player with experience on loan at QPR, Crewe and Rotherham, has now committed himself to the Silkmen for another Conference campaign.

Speaking about the stopper’s decision to sign a new contract, Silkmen boss John Askey told the club’s website: “I always feel that the goalkeeper is the most important positions on the pitch, so we’re really pleased to have Rhys with us for the coming season.

“He’s young still, and as a player, reminds me of when we had Boaz Myhill at the club. He has got a lot of ability and a good pedigree after coming through at Chelsea.

“He wants to play here and we know from seeing him last season that he is a very good ‘keeper for this level, and capable of playing higher.”
