METROPOLITAN POLICE frontman Tobi Alabi has had to hang up his boots after it was confirmed that he suffers from a heart condition.
The 19-year-old collapsed on the pitch during a friendly earlier this month and subsequently underwent medical tests to establish what the problem was.
He has now been told that a heart condition will prevent him from playing football again and the teenager was understandably devastated.
Tweeting the news on Monday evening, he said: “I’m distraught to have to inform you that I will be forced to retire from playing football due to a heart condition. Inconsolable.”
Alabi’s manager at Met Police, Jim Cooper, paid tribute to the striker, saying: He is one of the nicest guys off the pitch, he always had a smile on his face and like many others who play Non-League football, he still had aspirations to play professional football again.”
