MARGATE have confirmed that Bob Laslett is the new owner of the Ryman Premier club and will also serve as chairman after last night’s AGM.
Laslett is a successful Kent businessman and is founder and chairman of the Chaucher Group who are a global business consultancy.
Although Laslett was born and grew up in east Kent, he served on the board of Wolverhampton Wanderers as a director for five years up until 2011, with his company also sponsoring Wolves’ shirts.
Laslett assisted in securing Terry Brown’s move to the club as their new manager last week and a club statement read: “Bob has made it quite clear that he has joined Margate Football Club with a view to supporting, helping and assisting the club to grow and develop further and is a great believer that success is gained on the pitch with everything emanating from the winning of football matches.
“Once again, we would like to welcome Bob, and his family to Hartsdown Park and hope that they share many happy and memorable moments with all involved at the club in the future.”
Plans have also been approved to start work on the redevelopment of the club’s Hartsdown Park home. Funding is now in place and work is expected to start no later than February and will last approximately 12 months.
