DIARY OF A HOPPER: Corsham Town 1-0 Deal Town

Third time lucky, surely? The Fox and I try Corsham Town in The FA Vase once more again this weekend. Also there will be supporters of Deal Town, Kent, making their third journey in three weeks. The weather is mild and dry, so there should be no pitch inspection today. Surely?!

DIARY OF

DIARY OF A GROUND HOPPER: Basingstoke Town 4-1 Westfield

LOOKING down the list of ties in the FA Trophy and the Vase, there are just two clubs I haven’t visited and one of those is on an island much closer to France than Nottingham. I, therefore, pick out Corsham Town as my destination. And then the weather raises its ugly head again.

ADAM VIRGO:

ADAM VIRGO: Who are my six of the best?

AGRIPPING title race, a mad dash for the play-offs and a scrap for survival at the bottom – once again the National League is showing why it is one of the most entertaining divisions in football.

TONY INCENZO:

TONY INCENZO: Home we can call our own

Developing a brand new stadium is commonplace for our Non-League clubs these days. But relocating out of your home town is much more unusual. That is what Ingles FC have undertaken this season.

STEVE HILL:

STEVE HILL: TV gold from my armchair!

The last time I graced these pages was to berate the winter World Cup and its devastating impact on the domestic calendar.

Hypocritically, I have of course watched every match so far, on occasion while listening to live commentary of Chester FC tearing up the National League North.

GAFFER’S GREATEST

GAFFER’S GREATEST GAFFER: Crazy ideas led to chaos

In the latest in our series we pick the brains of Bromley manager Andy Woodman. Having come through the ranks at Crystal Palace, the goalkeeper enjoyed a stellar career in the Football League which included back-to-back Wembley play-off finals with Northampton Town under his ‘greatest gaffer’ Ian Atkins.

DIARY OF

DIARY OF A GROUND HOPPER: Stansfeld 1-2 Erith Town

I’ve been on my travels for 58 days, so am completely out of the football loop.

On my return, I glean that it is FA Vase third round week so go online to peruse the draw. Stansfeld FC immediately catches my eye mainly because I have never heard of them (to my shame).

TONY INCENZO:

TONY INCENZO: The return of fan power

THE record National League crowd of 16,511 at Notts County versus Yeovil Town on November 19 shows how much interest in Non-League football is booming right now – particularly during this unprecedented World Cup break where people still want to enjoy live action.

Josh Gowling:

Josh Gowling: Rest is music to my ears

DON’T GET me started on injuries! Our physio room has been busier than ever in recent weeks and it hasn’t been easy. Whether it’s anything to do with the time off we had during the covid seasons now catching up with players I don’t know, but it seems to be a trend.

MATT BADCOCK:

MATT BADCOCK: We must act on stupidity

Everyone was set to celebrate Non-League football – so it was a bit depressing when we had to make the editorial decision to run our front page on the appalling allegations of Warrington Town keeper Tony Thompson being sent off for his reaction after claims a so-called Guiseley ‘fan’ apparently urinated in his water bottle.
