AFC FYLDE have transfer listed forward Richie Allen after his sending off in the Coasters’ opening day defeat at Solihull Moors.
Allen, the club’s all-time leading scorer, is the only remaining player from Fylde’s FA Vase success in 2008 when they were called Kirkham & Wesham.
After a stint away, Allen returned to Kellamergh Park in January 2014 and helped Dave Challinor’s men to Evo-Stik NPL Premier promotion.
He netted 25 times last season as the Coasters narrowly missed out on promotion from the Conference North.
However, his red card in the 19th minute against Solihull for a deliberate handball which gave the hosts a penalty and the lead, has led to the popular forward being put up for transfer.
“After much deliberation, we have had to make a really tough decision but one that we feel is in the best interests of everyone at the club,” Challinor said.
“Richie is a fans’ favourite, has undoubted ability and on his day is a match winner but like many players of quality, has his flaws.
“He’s had countless opportunities and warnings and unfortunately he’s failed to heed these and this has begun to effect other players in the dressing room.
“Our dressing room is close knit and it is our responsibility as a management team to keep the harmony in there. He’ll be a loss on the pitch but no one is bigger or more important than the club.”
