FORMER Conference title winner Lindon Meikle has signed for Vanarama National League North side Alfreton Town.
Meikle, 27, was part of the Mansfield Town squad that won promotion as Conference champions in 2012-13 before spending two years in League Two with the Stags and then York City.
Having failed to make it into York’s matchday squad at the start of this season, Meikle was released by mutual consent in August.
The former England C winger, who started his career at Eastwood Town, signed for National League side Macclesfield Town in September on non-contract terms and made seven appearances.
With the return to fitness of Chris Holroyd and Paul Lewis, Meikle fell down the Silkmen’s pecking order and left the Moss Rose last week.
He has now been given the chance to get regular game time back in the National League North with Alfreton, who are currently 14th in the table.
