ALFRETON TOWN boss Nicky Law wants his Reds side to continue their recent good form into 2016.
Law’s men produced two of their best performances of the year in 2015 against Tamworth on Boxing Day and Solihull Moors on Bank Holiday Monday.
The Reds won 2-1 at the Lambs and produced another dominant display against then-leaders Solihull at the Impact Arena but the Moors grabbed a late equaliser to draw 2-2.
Law’s side may still be languishing in 16th in the Vanarama National League North but the last two displays have left the boss looking on the positive side.
“Obviously we are really pleased with the last two performances we have had, especially against Solihull,” he said.
“The first one at Tamworth we could have been out of sight before it got close near the end. Against Solihull, the response of the fans at the end of the game said everything.
“It was a team effort where everyone came together and they have come off the pitch having put a performance in to which the fans responded. The team have put a physicality to their game that we have been lacking the past few weeks.
“We now need to go on and try and put that level of performance in not just for two games together, but every week. We have been trying to get across to the players how difficult it is to win games of football at this level.
“It’s not teaching the players how to play football, it is all about getting them to want to win. We have always been a club where other teams don’t want to come and play us and I think the players are realising what is required.
“Hopefully the penny has dropped and they are starting to understand that you have to put yourself on the line and compete for every ball first and foremost. The last two games the players have played to an intensity that we want.”
