AFC TELFORD UNITED‘S young goalkeeper Harry Burgoyne has been impressing on the pitch – and he’s now making a name for himself off it too!
The 19-year-old is on loan from Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers and has just extended his stay at the New Bucks Head until the end of the season.
He had previously enjoyed successful loan spells in the Vanarama National League North with Corby Town and Lowestoft Town and will be aiming to help the Bucks avoid a second successive relegation.
He’s clearly keeping his spirits high off the pitch and was recently filmed heading into Wolves’ Compton Park training ground with U21 team-mate Bradley Reid, formerly of Wrexham and Telford.
The young pair gave their own renditions of a Land Down Under, the Housemartins’ Caravan of Love, and Michael Jackson’s Man In The Mirror.
The video has since been watched over 8,000 times and Burgoyne said: “Bradley and I have always been up for doing a bit of karaoke, and after our sing-a-thon in Magaluf last summer, we were both up for a bit of light-hearted fun, which seems to have stuck a chord with people.
“After uploading the video to YouTube, we forwarded the link to a few people we knew and it has progressed into thousands from there. The Wolves press office and fans alike have been in good-spirit about the video, as it’s all good publicity at the end of the day for both Wolves and Telford.
“I’ve lost count how many people have said that we should audition for this year’s X Factor! If we did apply, and managed to wing it through to boot-camp, we wouldn’t be able to take part. Both Reidy and I would both be at training or playing matches, which is more important than our microphone control.
“On the flip-side, at least people now know I have a vocal presence, which is important as a goalkeeper.”
