SALFORD CITY have added more firepower to their strikeforce for their debut season in the National League North – while also securing top scorer James Poole on a new contract.
Winger Craig King arrives at the club from City’s new league rivals Bradford Park Avenue while striker Matthew Warburton makes the move across Manchester from Curzon Ashton.
Former Hartlepool United forward Poole joined the Ammies in September and quickly made himself a fans’ favourite at Moor Lane.
He netted 20 times last season as Salford won promotion, beating Workington in the Evo-Stik NPL Premier play-off final 3-2.
Poole also scored the important winner against Southport in the FA Cup to send the Ammies into the first round, where they beat Notts County live on the BBC.
Complimenting Poole next year at Moor Lane will be King, 25, who joins from Bradford PA following one season at the Horsfall Stadium.
He started his career at Leicester City and spent time on loan at Hereford United and Northampton Town before dropping into Non-League with AFC Telford, Worksop Town and Buxton.
Also strengthening Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley’s squad is striker Warburton who joins from Curzon Ashton for an undisclosed fee.
The 24-year-old spent three years at the Tameside Stadium and netted 14 times as Curzon enjoyed a successful first season in the National League North.
The new additions follow the signings of Brad Barnes from AFC Fylde, striker Mike Phenix from Southport and Solihull Moors full-back Michael Nottingham.
