He will be turning out for their league rivals Harrogate next season, however, after deciding on a move to the CNG Stadium.
Promotion is the aim for Leesley, who becomes Harrogate boss Simon Weaver’s sixth signing of the summer.
He told the club’s website: “As soon as I met the manager I knew I wanted to join Harrogate Town. The club is going in the right direction and obviously I have the same aspirations as a player.
“I’ve joined Harrogate Town to get promoted. The squad is definitely capable and I know all the boys will want to go up as champions. I’m itching to get back into pre-season and to hit the ground running.”
Delighted boss Weaver added: “We’ve been following Joe’s progress for quite a while, and we are delighted that he’s now our player.
“We’ve watched him in several games and his talent just shines through. He is two-footed, physically strong and has the ability to beat a man.
“At only 22 years of age, he’s a lad who has capacity and willingness to grow and develop his game even further. His desire to progress as player was evident from the moment we met, and he has absolutely embrace the idea of extra training sessions next season.”
