Jim Harvey to get budget boost at Altrincham after five-figure windfall

boss Jim Harvey’s hopes of bringing in some new faces have received a big boost after the club received a five-figure windfall thanks to former player Duncan Watmore.

The England U21 international left the Robins to join Premier League outfit Sunderland in May 2013 for an undisclosed fee.

Savvy Altrincham made sure they included a number of add ons in the deal and they have profited from one of those after Watmore made his tenth start for the Black Cats against Everton on Monday night.

Alty have confirmed they will receive a five-figure sum from the Stadium of Light and new boss Harvey will be given the lot as he tries to get the club climbing up the .

Ex-, and manager Harvey replaced Neil Young two weeks ago and has a tough job on his hands with Alty sitting second bottom of the table following a dismal start to the campaign.

Chairman Grahame Rowley told Altrincham’s website: “Due to the situation we find ourselves in, it (the money) will all go into the playing budget for Jim to use to make the changes he feels are necessary.

“More than ever, this is a time for everyone to rally round and stick together. We are at our strongest when we are sharing the same objectives and working together to try and make them happen.

“As a board, we want nothing more than a successful team out on the pitch, and it’s clear our supporters want it just as much.

“We all make mistakes. No one is perfect, but we all have the good of the club at heart and want to see an end to this nosedive in our fortunes.

“Jim has been working overtime since taking over to try and bring new faces in and arrange outgoing moves in an effort to eradicate the losing mentality that seems to have set in. Hopefully in the next few days and weeks, those changes will start to take effect.”
