MATT JANSEN says he had no hesitation in committing to National League North side Chorley for the long term.
The former Blackburn Rovers star came within a match of taking the Magpies into Non-League‘s top-flight in May but defeat in the play-off final to FC Halifax means it’s another year at Step 2.
Some were expecting the manager to step up a level over the close season but the speculation is over.
Although the club have not revealed the length of the deal, Jansen won’t be going anywhere for quite a while.
The contract, Chorley said, is a “long term” one and could take the 39-year-old to over a decade at the club as a player and manager.
Jansen said: “I’m delighted and I am proud that I get the chance to take Chorley forward.
“This season is a big one for us and we all know how close we went last time around. Everyone is focused on picking up where we left off and seeing just where it will take us.
“There have been a lot of changes over the summer off the field that can only be good for the club and it is clear we are building a strong infrastructure which will only take us forward.”
The club’s new chief executive Dave Riche says the stability is key as Chorley look to go one stage further next season.
“This is great news for us and something which the directors have been keen to seal,” said Riche.
“Having such a strong management team in place and respected names in the dugout is a major asset for our club.
“This season is vitally important and we are determined to spread the word about the club deep into the community and beyond.”
