ROD STRINGER has secured six more of last year’s Chelmsford City squad for next season while also adding defender Chris Bush from Lincoln City.
Stringer, who left Bishop’s Stortford to take the reins at Chelmsford last month, has got his squad back in for pre-season training ahead of the first friendly against Heybridge Swifts on July 7.
And his preparations for the new National League South campaign have received a boost after Joe Welch, Daniel Blanchett, Lee Sawyer, Harry Morgan, Frank Merrifield and Shamir Mullings all signed new deals.
Joining those six at the Melbourne Stadium will be defender Bush, pictured above, who has dropped down a division to join the Clarets from National League outfit Lincoln.
The London-born former Welling United, Hereford, Gateshead and Woking centre-half made 36 appearances for the Imps last season, scoring once.
A former League Two player with AFC Wimbledon, Bush’s addition is a big boost to Stringer as Chelmsford look to once again be challenging at the top of the table following last season’s disappointing campaign.
