MARK COOPER says he has added some much needed pace and power to his defence with the signing of Bath City‘s Manny Monthe.
The 21-year-old has been an ever-present for the Romans this season, playing 19 times in the National League South and scoring four times.
Monthe came through the youth system at Queens Park Rangers but has gained most of his first team experience in Non-League.
The Cameroon-born defender spent last season with Havant & Waterlooville and Hayes & Yeading and impressed Bath during a pre-season trial.
His performances caught the eye of Forest Green boss Mark Cooper and the National League leaders agreed an undisclosed fee for his services.
Delighted Rovers chief Cooper said: “I felt over the last couple of weeks we needed to add some power and pace at the back.
“Manny is six foot four, left-footed and can play left-back or centre-back, and is very comfortable on the ball for a big guy.
“He’s quick and strong and I feel we just need that little bit more presence going into the New Year and winter months – particularly at set pieces he will help us.
“We want to sign young hungry players who are looking to forge a career in the game. And Gary (Owers) and Bath have been really helpful in making this happen.”
Former Southport, Whitehawk and Tonbridge Angels man Monthe added: “I’m very excited with this new challenge. I’m a centre-back that likes to play out from the back and drive into midfield.
“I’m very grateful, very happy and appreciate the opportunity I’ve been given.”
