JAMIE COYLE has been tipped to succeed in his first reign in management after being appointed as the man in charge of National League South Welling United.
Coyle, who departed Maidstone United earlier in the week, was named Wings manager with former Stones, Welling and Maidenhead United midfielder Jack Parkinson joining him as player-coach while Tristan Lewis remains at the club as director of football.
Coyle made almost 100 appearances for the Stones, winning the supporters’ player-of-the-year award in 2015-16 as the Stones reached the National League through the National League South play-offs with a thrilling final win against Ebbsfleet United.
The Wings finished 16th last season in the National League South following relegation from Non-League‘s top flight.
And they will be hoping Coyle – who will continue in his role as a coach/tutor at the Maidstone United Football Academy – can get the club looking up again and his former boss Jay Saunders says he has all the qualities needed to do well.
The Maidstone chief said: “I can’t speak highly enough of Coyley. His presence on and off the pitch has had a massive influence in where the club is today.
“The experience, organisation and calmness he brought to the team during the past two seasons have been a major factor in the success we’ve had.”
