Chelmsford City Youngster Makes Spireites Switch

GLENN PENNYFATHER has hailed as the “perfect environment” for bringing through young players after seeing Richard Brindley join League Two club .

The 19-year-old only spent half a season with the Clarets after joining them from Norwich City in the summer but did enough in his 24 appearances to turn the heads of the Spireites.

He has now signed a pro deal with them and will remain at the Proact Stadium until the climax of the 2012/13 campaign.

Speaking about his move and how it reflects on Chelmsford, Clarets boss Pennyfather said: “Although we’re sorry to see Richard go, as he’s a brilliant player and person, I couldn’t be happier for him as he deserves his chance at league level.

“It’s also a proud moment for the club to have another player elevated into the league whilst playing for us.

“Producing the goods on the pitch on a regular basis won’t go unnoticed, and it benefits us at the same time. It shows that Chelmsford City is the perfect environment for promising players to develop and it gives our other talents an incentive.”
