WESTON-SUPER-MARE midfielder Ross Stearn has rejected a move to Bath City.
The 22-year-old joined the Seagulls from Chippenham Town last summer and has been an influential figure in their midfield.
Bath made an approach for his services earlier this week but he has turned down an improved contract to remain at the Woodspring Stadium.
Speaking about Stearn’s decision, pleased Weston boss Craig Laird told This Is Bristol: “This is good news for the football club,” declared delighted Weston manager Craig Laird.
“Ross is a good player and is bound to attract attention. Bath had done their homework and came in with a decent offer.
“I’m sure Ross could have done with the extra money, but he is enjoying his football here and is in probably the best form of his career.
“If he can do well for us and get back into the Football League, then we will all be happy.”
Weston are currently sixth in the Blue Square Bet South, just two points off the play-off places, while Bath are eight points behind them in 14th.
