Main Leaves Welling But Fazakerley Stays

STRIKER Jon Main has joined Thamesmead Town following his departure from Conference South champions .

Main made most of his appearances for the Wings off the bench last season, coming on as a substitute in 22 of the 28 games he featured in.

He scored six times in those matches but, while the Wings are moving up a division, Main has decided to drop one to join Thamesmead in the Ryman Premier League.

The Mead won promotion to Step 3 via the play-off last season and will compete at that level for the first time in their history in 2013/14.

Meanwhile, Welling have handed a new one-year deal to their longest-serving player, Loui Fazakerley.

Fazakerley has been at Road since November 2008 and Wings boss Jamie Day is delighted he’s staying on.

Day told the club’s website: “I’m delighted that Loui has signed a new deal.

“He brings added versatility to the squad and a great work ethic, and I know the fans will be delighted that he is staying with us in the Conference Premier.”
