EASTLEIGH have confirmed the signing of former Barnet skipper Mark Hughes.
Hughes left the Bees earlier this summer having made over 130 appearances for them since joining in February 2009.
The 28-year-old, who includes Oldham, Stevenage and Chester among the clubs he has played for, is a Northern Irish international and extremely highly rated by Eastleigh boss Ian Baird.
Speaking about Hughes, Baird said: “Once again he is the caliber of player I am looking for and has plenty of experience. He has played under pressure, captaining Barnet last year who were successful retaining their league statues on a very small budget.
“He played for us at Sholing on Tuesday night and I liked what I saw and I liked what I heard – he seems a very good lad who will fit in well with us.”
Meanwhile, the Spitfires have appointed Dan Wright as their new football in the community and academy manager.
Wright replaces Danny Smith, who left the role earlier this week.
