Experience Is Key For Worcester City Boss Carl Heeley

recovered from a terrible start last season to ensure survival in the Conference North and manager Carl Heeley has praised his experienced signings for keeping them up.

City did not win until their ninth league game of the season but ended up finishing 15th after a good second half of the campaign.

Aaron Brown, Kristian Ramsey-Dickson and Jamie Grimes joined the club in January, the latter on loan, and Heeley was thankful for the new boys.

He told :“We had a tough start to the season but I think that came about because of the uncertainty surrounding the club.

“We had some very young players who competed well but their inexperience showed in the bigger games.

“We changed it around Christmas and brought in a few more experienced, older lads and they complemented the younger players well and we did all right in the second half of the season.”

Worcester have added Mike Symons back into their squad after the striker left . Symons was the club top scorer for two seasons running before leaving last year.

Now Symons is back, Heeley is hoping the good times return to City.

He added: “I’m pleased with the business that we have done so far. I’ve retained the players I wanted so that’s quite good and there a few potential new recruits so it’s all very encouraging.

“The aim is always to build on the previous campaign. We’ve done really well the last few seasons and got up to seventh a few years back so it would be nice to get there again.”
