Following Rooney’s first England goal on September 6 2003, Stuart Hammonds spoke to his granddad Morrey for an article in The Non-League Paper.

Even back then, it was clear Rooney would go on to be a key player for the Three Lions in years to come and thankfully he hasn’t fallen foul to the family genes.
