Hotshot Jamille Matt In Talks With Fleetwood Town

JAMILLE MATT looks destined to leave Harriers after the Conference club confirmed he is in talks with Fleetwood Town.

The striker has been a revelation for the Harriers since returning to action last November following questions over his eligibility to live and work in this country.

He has netted eight goals in eight games for ‘s side and recently put pen-to-paper on a new 18 month deal last week.

His form prompted League Two club Fleetwood to inquire about his services, and a clause in his new contract entitled them to meet and discuss a move with him.

Speaking about the Jamaican-born marksman’s potential switch, Harriers chairman Mark Serrell told the club’s website: “We included a clause within Jamille’s new agreement that was designed to offer the club a little more security and, in our view, hopefully keep him with us for at least the foreseeable future.

“We had not envisaged at all that any club would meet the criteria of that clause quite so soon but Fleetwood Town have done so – their officials made an approach properly and through the correct channels which we commend.

“Naturally we do not wish to lose Jamille’s services but accept that this move is potentially a very fruitful one for him and we wish him well with whatever he decides to do.”

Matt’s move to Highbury is expected to be completed within the next 24 hours.
