Exiles Capture Target Number Two

NEWPORT COUNTY have won the race to sign in-demand AFC Wimbledon striker Christian Jolley.

Jolley, 24, spent time with the Exiles earlier this season, netting five goals in five games for Justin Edinburgh’s side.

That form saw him recalled by the Dons but it mid-December but it soon became clear he would be heading for the Kingsmeadow exit once the transfer window opened.

A number of Conference Premier outfits, including Forest Green, Grimsby,  Luton and , expressed an interest in signing him but it is Newport that have secured his signature.

Christian Jolley NewportThey have paid the Dons an undisclosed fee – thought to be in the region of £30,000 – for the former frontman and will have him in their squad for tomorrow’s Blue Square Bet Premier game at Lincoln.

Speaking about the arrival of the forward, Edinburgh told the Newport County official website: “It’s a great signing for the club.

“We all know what he brings to the side and it shows the ambitions of the board of directors and the club.

“We have targeted two players and got them both in the last 24 hours.”
