DALE BELFORD has taken over as caretaker manager of Tamworth following the club’s decision to relieve Marcus Law of his duties on Monday.
Law was appointed Lambs boss in May 2011 after stints in charge of Coventry Sphinx, Racing Club Warwick, Quorn, Barwell and Kettering Town.
His sole full season at the club was one of mixed fortunes, with the Lambs reaching the FA Cup Third Round – where they played Everton at Goodison Park – but only just avoiding relegation from the Conference Premier with an 18th-place finish.
The Lambs are struggling in the league again this term and currently sit just four points above the drop zone.
Chairman Bob Andrews felt a change was needed to deal with the threat of relegation and subsequently dismissed the former Bristol Rovers and Stafford Rangers goalkeeper on Monday.
Tamworth stalwart Dale Belford steps into the breach on a caretaker basis – the third time in which he has done so over the course of his career.
And the 45-year-old has moved swiftly to add to his backroom staff, appointing Scott Lindsey as his number two.
Lindsey, formerly a player with Scunthorpe, Leyton Orient and Gillingham, has previously held a coaching position at Tamworth’s Blue Square Bet Premier rivals Lincoln City.
