STOCKPORT COUNTY have sacked manager Jim Gannon after falling into the Blue Square Bet Premier relegation zone.
The Hatters were beaten 3-1 at home by Mansfield Town on Tuesday night – their seventh defeat in ten games.
It leaves them occupying 21st in the table – the final relegation place – although they do have games in hand on the two teams directly above them, AFC Telford United and Tamworth.
Gannon’s departure after 14 months is the second time he has been relinquished of his managerial duties at Edgeley Park.
The former Hatters centre-back managed the club between 2005 and 2009 before being made redundant to cut the wage bill while the club were in administration.
This time around he has now been dispensed of due to footballing reasons and with 20 games of the season remaining, the club’s board will be hoping his successor can swiftly turn around the sticky situation they find themselves in.
