ALDERSHOT TOWN‘S return to Non-League football has got off to an inauspicious start, with the club being placed into administration.
The Shots were relegated from League Two after a final-day defeat at the hands of Rotherham last weekend and now, just five days later, they have dealt another huge blow.
Carl Stuart Jackson and Paul Anthony Goddard of Quantuma Restructuring were appointed as joint administrators of the club on Thursday morning and “are currently reviewing the club’s financial affairs and will release further details shortly.”
Aldershot’s administration comes after their players went unpaid for the month of April and hot on the heels of chief executive Andrew Mills’ resignation on Wednesday.
The club’s administration will not affect their entrance to the Conference as Rule 14.B.6 states: “In the event of any Club entering the Competition from the Football League whilst subject to any Insolvency Event, then that club shall be eligible for membership of the Competition and the provisions of Clause 14.B.1* will not apply to it until the date of the second AGM following its entry into the competition.
*Clause 14.B.1 relates to possible relegation one step of the Non-League pyramid unless certain financial requirements are met.
