GRIMSBY TOWN have signed York City midfielder Patrick McLaughlin.
The 22-year-old began his career with Premier League outfit Newcastle United and signed a professional contract with the Magpies in 2008.
However, he failed to break into the first team squad and was released by the St James’ Park outfit in 2011, subsequently joining York.
McLaughlin, who has represented Northern Ireland at both Under-19 and Under-21 level, went on to make over 70 appearances for the Minstermen before being released in April this year.
He has now penned a two-year deal with Grimsby and links up with former York team mate Scott Kerr at Blundell Park.
