Alfreton boss Nicky Law has now secured the former stalwart on a one-year deal and says the benefit his experience will bring to the squad will be enormous.

Speaking to the club’s website, Law said: “He is a player with vast experience. You are always sceptical when you sign players of Chris’s age but he is super fit and has been up the front in pre-season training and is in good shape.

“He has had a great league career and done extremely well at Wrexham in the last two seasons. He knows what it is all about and what it takes and he can come and lend some of that experience and organisational skills to some of the younger players we have.

“It has been an on-going thing with Chris and we are delighted to have persuaded him to come to us in the face of strong opposition.

“All in all it is a great signing for us and we are really pleased. It is a great coup to be able to get a player of that calibre to come to the club.”
