LUTON TOWN have appealed against the red card received by defender Steve McNulty in their 1-0 defeat at Southport on Saturday.
The former Fleetwood man, who was skippering the Hatters, was shown a straight red card on 56 minutes after tangling with Luke George.
Speaking about the incident, and Luton’s appeal, manager John Still said: “At the time I didn’t see it and nobody on our bench saw it either.
“In fairness to Southport, nobody on their bench saw it, because I asked them afterwards.
“Our understanding is that their guy received a knock at the back of the head when challenging for the cross and both fell to the floor.
“Having looked at the DVD both players fell to the floor together and it appears as though the Southport goalkeeper has unintentionally got hold of Steve’s legs and Steve has pulled his leg away and ran off. Yet the referee has deemed that to be dangerous play.
“We looked at the DVD and all thought the same: that we don’t really see it anything other than Steve getting up off of the floor.”
