KIDDERMINSTER HARRIERS have given boss Steve Burr permission to talk to Forest Green Rovers about their managerial vacancy.
Rovers parted company with David Hockaday last month following a poor start to the Conference Premier season and numerous names have since been linked with the hotseat.
Forest Green twice approached Gateshead to speak to Gary Mills but failed in their attempts to lure the former York City boss away from the International Stadium.
Ex-Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler was as short as 4-1 with bookies on Wednesday after rumours circulated that he was interested in taking over at the Stroud club.
Howevever, it now looks like Burr, who has been with Kiddy since 2010, will swap Aggborough for the New Lawn.
Burr has a wealth of managerial experience having been in charge at Nuneaton Borough, Hucknall Town, Northwich Victoria and Stalybridge Celtic before taking the Kiddy reins.
Kiddy are keen to keep Burr, who doubles up as assistant manager of the England C team, but reluctantly agreed to let him speak to their Skrill Premier rivals.
A statement posted on their official website said: “Kidderminster Harriers can confirm that they have received a formal approach from Forest Green Rovers, through the correct channels, for permission to speak to manager Steve Burr about their managerial vacancy.
“Steve Burr has been kept fully aware of the situation at all times and has expressed an interest in meeting with Rovers officials to discuss the post and, as such, the club have reluctantly granted him permission to do so.
“Until we discover the outcome of those discussions we will make no further comment on the matter – the team has a fixture at Barnet coming up this weekend and it is vital that Gary Whild and the rest of the management team and playing staff are left to focus as nothing is more important than that.”
