LINCOLN CITY boss Gary Simpson has revealed that Scunthorpe United have triggered a release clause in the contract of defender Andrew Boyce.
Boyce is a key player at the heart of the Imps’ defence and has already clocked up 19 appearances for them this term.
Scunthorpe initially inquired about taking the 24-year-old on loan but are now understood to have met the realease fee in his deal at Sincil Bank and are set to sign him in January.
Speaking about the former Gainsborough Trinity man’s expected departure, Imps boss Simpson told This Is Scunthorpe: “I wasn’t aware of the release clause in his contract but they have activated the fee so at the end of the day we are powerless to stop it.
“From now until then I will obviously be looking for a replacement or to add another to the squad.”
