Southport Part Company With Alan Wright

ALAN WRIGHT has left Skrill Premier strugglers by mutual consent.

The former Aston Villa left-back took charge at Haig Avenue in May this year following a brief spell in caretaker charge of .

His tenure began well, with the Sandgrounders winning four of their first six league fixtures.

However, they are currently on a run of six straight defeats and lie just two points above the relegation zone.

Wright has paid the price for that run of results and has now left what was his first full managerial role.

A statement confirming his departure said: “Today, after long discussions and deliberations over the week, Alan Wright parted company from Southport Club by mutual consent.

“The club gave Alan Wright his first managerial appointment and everyone has been dedicated to making the season a success but football is a results-driven business and the recent very poor run has led to this decision.

“The club would like to thank Alan Wright for his time at the club and good luck in his future football career.”
