At the heart of the community

OUR GAME Community Club of the Year

While results may be the be-all-and-end-all for some in the professional game, the emphasis at level remains on clubs being at the heart of their communities as they continue to carry out so much good work that often goes unheralded.

That’s why we honour those clubs who go the extra mile – and this year’s , in association with and title sponsors Isuzu, are no different.

This year, the Community Club of the Year Award is backed by Our Game and with so many Non-League clubs doing their bit for their cities, towns and villages, we want you to have your say and let us know who should pick up the coveted gong.

We’ve had some worthy winners over the years, notably the current holders of the prized decanter, .

In the season they completed their return to the top-flight on the field, it was equally as enterprising off it as the Heed captured the hearts of readers with a wide-ranging programme of activities to increase their already strong community links.

Not only did they initiate a specialist Heed at Home phoneline where they checked in on vulnerable supporters during Covid, they also actively supported the local food bank and encouraged supporters to donate.

Walking and junior camps were set up during the school holidays, while the club also teamed up with the Beamish Open Air Museum to launch a new 1950s park to provide education for school children in the north east.

Like many of our awards, we need you to help us highlight the best of Non-League so we make sure to pick the most deserving winner come May 23.

All you need to do is tell us who you think deserves recognition and why in less than 200 words. Forward your nomination to us at ngavotes@greenwayspublishing.com
