BOOKIES. Pundits. Rival managers. Ask any of them who will lift the National League title in May and the same answer comes back: Stockport County.
At 5-1, the Hatters are hardly runaway favourites. Wrexham and their Hollywood backers aren’t far behind.
But, lavishly funded by local entrepreneur Mark Stott and possessed of a strike-fore that wouldn’t look out of place in League One, it would be difficult to argue that Stockport are anything but major players. To his credit, manager Simon Rusk doesn’t try.
