SIMON COLBRAN has resigned as manager of Ryman South side Chipstead following their defeat to Rochester United in the FA Cup on Saturday.
Colbran’s side had picked up just one point from their first five league games after suffering a number of injuries.
And the FA Cup exit to lower division Rochester of the Southern Counties East League was the final straw as Colbran stepped down.
He joined Chipstead last season and led the club to safety in the Ryman South before the poor start to this season.
A club statement read: “Chipstead regret to confirm that manager Simon Colbran has resigned with immediate effect.
“Tony Stone and Martin Fuller will take over in a caretaker capacity for the time being. We wish Simon well in the future and thank him for all his efforts during his time at Chipstead.”
The managerless Chips went down 5-0 at high-flying Dorking Wanderers yesterday (Monday) to remain bottom of the pile.
