Adam Flint to remain in charge of Ryman North side Witham Town next season

have confirmed that manager Adam Flint will remain as the club’s boss next season in a bid “to keep the vultures away”.

Flint, a former Witham assistant, replaced Garry Kimble as first team boss last February with the club slipping towards the Ryman North relegation zone.

Four wins in his nine games at the helm last season meant that Town finished in 19th and five points above the relegation places.

He remained in charge for this season and it has been a positive one for Witham as they currently sit a comfortable 13th in the table.

Town, who have only won two of their last 11 league games, know they will need to improve their form if they are to make up the nine point gap between themselves and the play-off places.

Despite there being a third of the season still to go, Witham have made an early decision to keep Flint on next term following a board meeting on Monday.

A club statement read: “Witham Town FC are happy to confirm that Adam Flint will remain as first team manager next season, 2017-18.

“Adam, who replaced Garry Kimble towards the end of last season in a bid to keep Town in the Ryman North division, did just that and was offered the job this season where the task was to build on from the end of last season, which he has delivered and Town now sit mid-table.

“In a bid to keep the vultures away and give Adam the security that he has another season to look forward to, Town have have made the announcement early so he and his management team can continue to build the team ready for a play-off push next season.”

Chairman Mark Nicholls added: “We’re delighted with Adam’s approach to the team and the club. Adam’s task this season was to build on from where he had left off which he has.”

It’s good news for Town’s young reserve side with Flint giving several members of the side a chance in the first team. Patrick Ahern, Jamie Hudson, Liam Whipps, Jamie Bull and Ross McClintock have all made their first team debuts under Flint.
