UNITED Counties League side Sleaford Town went viral following a tweet from the club’s official Twitter feed during the club’s game against Boston Town on Easter Monday.
With the club’s usual social media man unavailable, player Harrison Allen was given the job of providing live match updates.
However, with Sleaford 3-1 up, the tweets stopped leaving fans wondering what had happened throughout the rest of the UCL Premier match.
The next tweet, posted at 5.05pm, cleared up the confusion with Allen notifying followers that he had in fact been substituted onto the pitch!
The change didn’t quite have the desired effect as Boston came from behind to draw 3-3 and Allen’s tweet – which was retweeted over 3,400 times – soon made it around the web.
It said “Sorry for break in tweets. I came on as a sub for Millard. Other subs were Anderson for Millington and Hollingsworth for Wright.
“Poor second half from Sleaford as Boston equalise late on. Tale of two halves here, final score 3-3.”
Another tweet on Tuesday added: “Bank Holiday madness behind us now but we’re at home Saturday so if all of our new followers could come support us that’d be great!”
