The National League Trust launches its new identity on Sunday 14 August 2016 with a Walking Football Tournament at Powerleague, Wembley. The event starts at 1.30pm and is being sponsored by SIS pitches.
Twelve National League clubs will battle it out in both Trophy and Plate competitions, including Brackley Town, Chelmsford City, Eastbourne Borough, Eastleigh, Margate, Stockport County, Wealdstone and Weston Super Mare.
The Trust – previously known as The Football Conference Trust – has changed its name to reflect the identity of the competition. It is charity, formed from a partnership between the National League, the Premier League and the Professional Footballers’ Association. The Premier League and the PFA have supported the Trust since 2010 and have recently agreed to commit a further £1.2m a year for three years from September 2016.
These funds are used to support community programmes at clubs who are members of the three divisions of the National League. This support comes in the form of grant aid and development advice. Our aim is to encourage every National League club to become involved in their community.
Projects range from arts activities, encouraging volunteering, work with young people, helping disability groups to play sport, healthy eating and lifestyle projects, and working with schools. Many clubs are running walking football programmes.
