Leading up to their first ever game as a Non-League side, Leyton Orient have announced they have surpassed 3,500 season ticket holders for the new campaign.
The total is their highest since 2001-02 and beats the figure the O’s achieved back in 2006-07, when Martin Ling had guided them back to League One with promotion from League Two.
Under the new ownership of Eagle Investments, headed by USA-based businessmen Kent Teague, Nigel Travis, and London-based Marshall Taylor, the east London club has been ‘returned’ to the fans after three years of turmoil under the previous regime.
On achieving the record, vice-chairman Teague said: “One of the things we most wanted was for the fans of Orient to come back and support the club. And they have done that by setting a season ticket sales record.
“We are very pleased not only with the season ticket sales but also with the buzz in the fan base. We believe because of the fan’s passion and enthusiasm, this will be a great season for Orient.”
Leyton Orient travel to Sutton United for their season opener before welcoming Solihull Moors to the 9,271-capacity Matchroom Stadium next Tuesday.
