It’s a well-known trick of managers to bring in players from their former side, and it’s one that Welling United boss Jamie Coyle has performed today by bringing in midfielder Harry Phipps from Maidstone United.
The youngster signs on loan with the Wings and will go straight into the squad that travels to play Oxford City away in the Vanarama National League South on Saturday.
Phipps played against Welling last season for Margate, before joining Maidstone and subsequently making this temporary switch to Park View Road.
Coyle was very happy to get his man, telling Welling’s official website: “Harry is an attacking midfielder/striker who is a great addition to the squad.
“Harry is very versatile as to where he can play and with his stature and energy levels he adds more quality and physical presence to the squad.
“I was very impressed with Harry working with him last year at Maidstone United. He is another player that works really hard and causes problems in the opposition’s penalty box.”
