Wrexham boss Dean Keates has said he is hopeful the club will add at least new one player to the squad before the Football League transfer window slams shut on Thursday night.
Keates’ side have begun the National League campaign in scintillating form, and are now fourth in Non-League‘s top tier after a tight 1-0 victory at Boreham Wood on Bank Holiday Monday.
Despite the club’s impressive start, goals have still been hard to come by, and Keates is desperate a new frontman can be added to his squad before the 11:30pm deadline on Thursday.
The Wrexham boss told the Daily Post: “Ideally I would like to try and bring another body, a minimum of one more body in.
“But we will see what happens over the next few days.
“It [the transfer window] closes and the loan window will still be open and it is something we can look at.
“There is a potential of another loan move we could possibly do, but I would like to do something permanent with somebody but we will see what happens over the next few days.”
The addition of a striker could be the final piece of the puzzle for Keates, who will be hoping Wrexham can continue their good form and eventually push for a return to the EFL.
However, the former Dragons midfielder is refusing to get carried away, and told the club’s website: “We don’t overreact to wins or losses.
“We are still work in progress, there are still bits to iron out, they are still getting used to each other as team mates. I can see the progress being made, the work rate has been there throughout the matches even when the results weren’t going our way.”
