JAMES WEBSTER celebrated his 400th match in charge of Brightlingsea Regent last weekend – but needed somebody else to draw it to his attention.
Since taking over eight seasons ago, the manager has won four promotions and boasts a win ratio of nearly 60 per cent.
Regent have already won twice in the Bostik Premier and after reaching the milestone he is already targeting the magic 500 mark.
“It seems no time at all since I was marking three hundred games, and this just seemed to sneak up on us,” Webster said.
“It was only on Sunday night when the club statistician pointed out that the following day would be four hundred, so we haven’t really done anything to celebrate. I’ve been too busy. Perhaps we might get time to relax after the FA Cup match this weekend but I am so really proud of what we’ve achieved here.”
On the season so far, the Ryman North champions have settled in well, their manager suggests.
“This is a difficult league, and fine margins will always be the order of the day,” he said. “I was delighted that we got our first three points last Saturday and to beat a really good Hendon side and then did the same against Needham Market.”
