Limbrick confident Maidstone’s 3G pitch will suit Woking

National League side Woking will be looking to make it three wins in a row when they travel to struggling Maidstone United tomorrow, and their boss Anthony Limbrick is not in the mood for excuses.
After an excellent win on the road at Macclesfield last weekend, the Cards will play Jay Saunders’ side on their controversial 3G surface which has seen many teams struggle to adapt to the artificial pitch.
However, Limbrick has said his side have prepared well for the surface – and they won’t be making any excuses after the final whistle – as he believes the 3G could suit Woking.
The manager told Get Surrey: “For a team like ours who pass the ball and move and have good energy, I think it’s a positive playing on that 3G pitch on Saturday.
“I don’t see it being a problem for us. We have players for us that suit playing on a surface like that, so if it’s going to suit anyone it will definitely be us.
“There definitely won’t be any excuses from us going into that environment.
“It is different – the ball plays differently on the 3G – but I think players are adaptable these days, plenty have now played on surfaces like that or trained on it.
“I just don’t see any excuses from us.”
Meanwhile, Maidstone will be hoping they can return to the sort of form that saw them hold the likes of promotion hopefuls Dagenham & Redbridge and Aldershot to draws, and beat early pacesetters Sutton away from home.
Last Saturday’s performance at Hartlepool was a disappointing one, as the Pools finally secured their first win and Maidstone slumped to 19th in the league.
