MARCUS BIGNOT is convinced he can help Chester grow as a club after landing the manager’s job – but says the first priority is getting results.
The former Solihull Moors and Grimsby Town manager replaces Jon McCarthy, who was sacked after just one win in eight games.
Bignot took Solihull Moors to the National League North title before leaving for Grimsby Town last season.
But he left after just five months and is keen to put the lessons learned into practice at the struggling National League Blues.
“There was obviously a lot of strong candidates for the job,” Bignot said. “But I just felt, looking at the football club and criteria they were looking for, that I’m confident I can go in there and make a difference. It seems, my belief, was theirs also. So I’m delighted.
“They are doing some super things and I know I can offer some experience in other areas as well and help the club evolve. You can imagine a model like Chester has many strengths to it.
“But first and foremost it’s going to be about the right here, right now and getting results and moving in the right direction.
“Over time I have no doubt I can help the club evolve in other areas and grow.”
