CLEETHORPES TOWN‘S stalemate with Leek Town at the weekend has given second place Basford United the opportunity to join them at the top of the Evo-Stik South table tonight.
Martin Carruthers’ men won’t have it easy when they travel to sixth place Spalding United however, with the hosts having won four of their five home games this season.
Fourth place Leek Town can move above Frickley Athletic when they face Bedworth United at The Oval. The Blues aforementioned draw with Cleethorpes on Saturday was an excellent result and sets them up well for this encounter.
Meanwhile, bottom club Gresley will be looking for just their second win all season when they welcome mid-table Stamford to the Moat Ground tonight. Damion Beckford-Quailey’s side claimed a draw at Peterborough Sports at the weekend and will hope to go one better tonight.
Stocksbridge Park Steels will attempt to keep pace with the top teams when they host eighth place Chasetown. A disappointing defeat at Corby Town on Saturday will have only motivated the Steels, and we could be in for an exciting game at Bracken Moor this evening.
Romulus have been struggling all season, and let a half-time lead slip against fellow basement dwellers Sheffield FC this weekend. They’ll hope for better tonight but will be up against it at mid-table Newcastle Town. Mark Hume’s side, on the other hand, face a much taller task against seventh place Lincoln United.
Loughborough Dynamo and Alvechurch will be vying for position this evening, with the Moes facing Peterborough Sports at Nanpantan Sports Ground and Ian Long’s men taking on Market Drayton Town at Lye Meadow.
